A Knoxville Criminal Defense Firm Built on Accessibility, Trust, and Real Support

At The Dance Firm, I set out to build a law practice where clients feel heard, protected, and supported from the moment they call. When you’re facing criminal charges, the stakes are high—your freedom, your reputation, and your future are all on the line. You deserve a lawyer who is not only skilled and strategic but who is actually available when you need them. My mission is simple: to provide strong, compassionate, and affordable criminal defense representation to individuals and families throughout Knoxville and East Tennessee.

The Dance Firm focuses exclusively on criminal defense, with a commitment to guiding clients through some of the most stressful moments of their lives. Whether you’ve been charged with a DUI, accused of domestic assault, arrested on a felony drug offense, or facing theft allegations, you will always have direct access to your attorney and a clear understanding of your options. I take the time to listen to your story, explain the legal process, and develop a defense strategy tailored to your situation—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

The Journey That Led to The Dance Firm

My name is Parks Dance, founder of The Dance Firm and a dedicated Knoxville criminal defense attorney. I was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in a family that valued fairness, integrity, and hard work. Those values became the foundation for the type of lawyer I wanted to be—someone who stands up for people when they need it most.

I attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2020. During my undergraduate years, I interned with The Lanzon Firm, where I quickly developed a passion for criminal defense. That experience opened my eyes to the realities of the justice system and inspired me to pursue a career defending individuals whose rights, freedom, and futures are at risk.

My desire to serve others took me to Loyola University in New Orleans for law school. Throughout my time there, I gained hands-on experience that shaped who I am as an attorney today. I worked with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, participated in the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice, and completed an externship with Knox County Senior Criminal Court Judge Steven W. Sword—all of which gave me a well-rounded understanding of both
prosecution and defense.

After graduating in 2023 and passing the bar, I returned to Knoxville to begin my legal career at The Lanzon Firm. While it was an invaluable experience, I knew I wanted to build my own practice—one centered on accessibility, compassion, and unwavering defense work. That vision became The Dance Firm.

A Personal Commitment to Family, Faith, and Community

Outside the courtroom, I am proud to be a loving son, brother, and friend to many. My family keeps me grounded, and the people in my life continually inspire the compassion and determination I bring to every case. When I’m not working, you can often find me wrestling with my beloved lab, Tee, spending time fishing with my grandfather, Bill Dance, exploring the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, or cheering on the Tennessee Vols.

My Catholic faith plays a significant role in my life, guiding both my personal values and my approach to practicing law. I regularly attend Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in downtown Knoxville, where I find strength, purpose, and community. These relationships and experiences shape the empathy, dedication, and respect I show every client who walks through my doors.
